To do this summer!

Sleep, is what I plan on doing with a bit of crying that all school has ended. Then I plan to just chill read some good books, and watch some good movies. I’m re-taking the ACT this summer; I want to apply for some colleges. I want to relax for a bit with friends, and my family. I plan on helping out a friend with a movie he wants to do [So fun!!].

I really don’t have anything planned that is major for the summer. If I could spend my days in a library I would. I guess I will just take it easy, as I prepare for the next step toward my future. Maybe, I will work on my bowling skills so that maybe I can be as good as my uncle. I wish this entry didn’t seem so scattered, I just don’t know for sure what I’m going to do this summer.

I know I will keep writing my stories, continue drawing, learn to drive, and read a lot. I will have fun with friends, and spend more quality time with my mother. I will keep taking pictures of the sky, and remember the partial solar eclipse that I witnessed. [Not recommended to do, because it hurts, and can cause blindness. I viewed through tinted car windows-still not safe.] I will be happy with myself, and keep moving forward. The world I live in is limitless, and I plan on living a happy life past this summer, and the next.

The rest is an unexplained and a complete mystery…

Favorite summer memory

Well most of my summers are uneventful, and quite boring. I don’t think I have a favorite memory of summer days. Being with friends is fun, but that rarely happened for me. I usually spent my summers watching television all night into the early morning, and then just sleeping all day. I was always glad to be free from school, but I was often bored.

When I became a heavy reader when I was younger, I would spend a lot of days and nights just reading a good book. With reading I spent less time watching television, and being less bored as well. I would also write short stories, or even scripts, or I would just sit at the table and draw. My parents always worked, and I didn’t see much of my brothers. I guess a favorite memory for me was when I went to Lake Mille Lacs with my family.

That weekend was a good one; we woke up to the unfamiliar sounds of nature. We rode on a boat, in the lake, and even went fishing in another. The warm nights and hot days were very nice. It was good to get that step away from reality, even for a short weekend. That would qualify as a favorite summer memory for me. The rest is just a mystery…

The million dollar question.

If you were offered a million dollars, would you go a month without technology?

This means you have to step down, and avoid all forms of technology. Basically you can’t watch television, listen to CD’s, or play angry birds. Any piece of technology like, Light, iPods, or computers you have to avoid. You have to go a month cooking on a gas stove, or over a campfire, reading by sunlight, or candle light, and any other things that don’t require a modern form of technology.

This is a good chance to learn how are lives can be changed in a single moment. Today’s generation relies heavily on technology, if it’s their touch screen phones, or their computers. Yet if suddenly all technology stopped working, would we as a people be alright? Many movies today have this as a scenario, where the modern world is forced back into the dark ages. If that actually happened what would we do, how would we re-learn to survive?

Technology has made us weak, it has enabled is to the point where we grow weaker, and technology grows stronger. We make these things to help us, but it is a waste of time and material, and is doing just as much harm than good. The generations are slipping, and are becoming less educated in the process of it all. Kids don’t even need to know how to spell anymore thanks to spell check. Also they don’t need to learn cursive or special types of writing styles, because of typing.

I love technology just as much as the next person, I grew up with it, and it is still growing today, but I just worry about the future of those after my generation. The older generation would try this challenge, because they were raised in that way. I’m told stories about their lives when they could not afford a colored television, and played all day outside. Yet I guarantee that any young kid living with all the technology in the world would say no to even the thought of this challenge even for a million dollars. The rest is just a mystery…

Day with a celebrity.

If I could spend an entire day with a celebrity it would have to be Betty White. I have loved her since I was young, and I enjoy watching her now. I loved watching her as Rose in The Golden Girls, and her new show Off Their Rockers. I find it funny when the older generation can find funny ways to prank the younger generation. I have always been a big fan of Betty White, and if I could meet her would be a dream come true.

Now that I would choose Betty White to spend the day with I’m not sure what we would spend our day doing. Just watching television all day might not be that fun for either of us. I believe I would see what she would want to do, and spend our day that way. I could just hope that she doesn’t make us do anything crazy. By the end of the day I just hope that we could spend our time together again.

When it comes down to celebrities I would choose Betty White to spend my day with, no questions asked. Being a fan that I am, it makes the choice very easy to make. I don’t know what we would do with an entire day, but I hope that it is fun. Not only fun, but also a good time for us both so that we could spend the day together again.

Most memorable birthday to this day.

I have had some good birthdays, mostly spent with my family and close friends. I don’t quite have a very memorable birthday in my opinion. My 15th birthday is one I remember that my parents made a poster of a baby picture of mind. It was embarrassing when my friends saw it, and signed it. That is one of the few birthdays I remember as being really good, and I believe that was also the year my father, shoved my face in the cake.

The next birthday I remember as being good was the year after that when I turned 16. On the actual day (Wed), I came home from school to find my mother had decorated my room with balloons, and streamers. It was cute and very thoughtful; I was also getting confirmed from my religion class that following Friday. On that Friday, my family was all gathered at the Plaza, where they had the workers sing happy birthday. That was also the time I tried fried ice cream for the first time.

Those are the two memorable birthdays to this day for me. I had a good and happy time with my friends, and my family. When I’m with them on my birthday I could not be happier. I just hope that future birthdays for me are just as great, Spending it with my loving family. The rest is just a Mystery.

How commercials impact me.

Television is a big part in the lives of almost everyone, and is in fact a pastime that all people engage in. With this there are ways that companies get out the news of their newest products an example is through commercials. There are a number of commercials that I enjoy, and example is the shark commercial about the snickers peanut butter. I get a good laugh from it, and I just love snickers with peanut butter. So this commercial has a very good impact on me.

A second is the crystal light commercial with the two women who are talking, and one gets their purse stolen. The second woman chases after them, and manages to keep up even though the robbers are on a moped scooter thing. They run out of gas and she takes the purse back and the robbers run off scared. I get a good laugh, I’m all for woman power yet I still don’t drink crystal light. This commercial does not impact me as much as the first one, but it is still very good.

My number one most favorite commercial is one that always makes me want to have a cold coca cola. It is the commercial of the two soldiers guarding their sides of the two different territories.  On one side a soldier opens up a coca cola and the other watches sadly, and then the other grabs his extra coca cola, but how to give it to the other soldier wit out crossing the line? So he sets the Coca cola on the ground and draws his sword and redraws the line in the dirt around the soda, and the opposite soldier erases the old line. Then they both enjoy the soda.

These are the few commercials that I really do enjoy, and wish I could see on television all of the time. They are the ones that I remember the most when they were released, and that have impacted me the most. In a way all commercials impact different individual people by their likes and dislikes. The ones we remember are the ones that make a difference in our daily lives.

Easter

The Easter my family enjoyed was a bit early for us all; we had our Easter on the Saturday before the actual date of Easter. The weather was not on our side either, since having the get together at my home was a bit last minute and it decided to rain. Overall it was not that bad at all; I just wish that it had all gone a little better in the fun department. Anyway my aunt and her husband came to our house with my cousin, and my uncle came as well. Even my older brother showed up with his girlfriend, and we all had a good time together.

My father had grilled a brisket despite the bad weather and we had a good meal to share, and a lot left over as well. I even made a cake for everyone. We did have some good laughs as we all talked about our past week and what we were all up too. Then we spent most of our time watching the marathon of Clint Eastwood movies on the military channel.  This is basically how our Easter went, we didn’t play any games, but it was the being together that counted the most.

Plus I did at the end of the day get my aunt with a confetti egg now that was a great way to end the fun party. On the actual date of Easter my family just sat around the house watching movies off Netflix. For me I attended a birthday party later that night, and it was quite fun. I had a good Easter, and a good break in general. The rest is just a mystery.
